It is May which means Open Studios and the time of year when Stroud’s art scene is amped up and everywhere you look there is something to see. Empty shop fronts become pop up installations, studios doors all over town are flung open so you can have a nose around and each day there are artist lectures and exciting events to choose from. Its a great time of year to visit, especially if you’ve never been before.
I’ll be opening my workspace in the Textile Studio in Stroud Valleys Artspace. I share this space with 4 other super talented, established designer-makers, and the studio is home to some serious bits of kit that are well worth checking out. Whether you are already working within the arts or you are a total newbie, its definitely something to see.
We’ll be there making work, selling pieces, ready to answer any questions about what we do and how textile processes actually work, 11-6, this Saturday and Sunday. Open Studios is a great way to buy art- direct from the artist, which means the best selection at the best prices. SVA have also turned their front gallery space in to a pop up art SHOP, curated by Robbins and Roberts, with a super fun and colourful selection. Swing by the SHOP to see some of my pieces, or come up and see me in the studio.
We already hosted last weekend, so this coming weekend is the last opportunity to check all the events out. On Saturday the Selvedge Spring Fair also comes to Stroud which is so exciting and will of course promise some really amazing makers, but this is for one day only, so make sure you don’t miss it- I certainly won’t!
