We are fast approaching that time of year again when we celebrate our Mothers, and for me this usually includes flowers and apologising for being such a little shit for all those years. Whether you celebrate your Mother on this day – as Hallmark intended – or on another day, it is never the wrong day to show appreciation for the guiding female figure in your life; whether that be your mum, your aunt, or that extra special friend.
For me this is isn’t about spending the big bucks – giving a gift which shows thought is way more touching than shelling out on something flashy, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I love luxury, but if that isn’t her thang, it wont mean a thang. There’s also something charming about the simplicity of a bunch of daffodils wrapped in brown paper and a carefully wrapped something special.
The smallest of treats can mean the most so this is why I’m so happy to be partnering with Lily King once again, sharing a couple of my favourite pieces from their beautifully considered, handpicked collection, for your mama.
Choosing a gift for my Mama-ji is an easy thing, as she always tells me what she likes and what she doesn’t (equally useful information!) but I also like to mix it up with a wild card occasionally.
I always say that the best gift is something that the person would love to have but wouldn’t justify buying for themselves; an amazing scented candle isn’t an expensive price for a gift, but might be something she would really appreciate. A Baer for your bae? I mean, come on.
Being a driving force doesn’t come without hard graft, so she’d probably appreciate something in the pampering department. I’m immediately drawn to the decadence of Ortigia, partly because the packaging is so stunning, partly because the scents are irresistible. Plus, it’s Sicilian. Need I say more?
Or you could take the jewellery route, always a classic. Since first testing out the Lily King jewellery range back in November I’ve been smitten; I love the quality and feel of these pieces and the designs just seem so carefree and delicate. The Tiny Disc necklace really caught my eye this time around. A pretty little something in a perfect little box? I’m no fool.
I don’t know about you, but there is something about a new pair of socks that just says Sunday Best to me. I want my lady to feel super chic and celebratory, so I think these sparkle socks, by Becksondergaard no less, are well worth a look. Team with her favourite chocolates wrapped in pretty paper and you are done.
